Our Story
In January 2018, the club moved into its new home; an industrial unit on Newark Road, Lincoln. LCGC then purchased lots of new equipment with the help of donations from local businesses and organisations, and the fundraising of the club’s committee, coaches and parents. This has enabled the club to facilitate lessons with all of the necessary equipment required to up-skill our gymnasts. The club has since expanded, taking over the neighbouring unit, where more equipment has been installed and our classes increased. LCGC is proud to say, we currently welcome over 400 gymnasts a week.

Mr and Mrs McGuirk and their daughter, Deanna Sorrell, founded Lincoln City Gymnastics Club in September 1984. Originally based at the City Sports Centre in Lincoln, the club moved to St. Peter and St. Paul’s School in Lincoln in January 2001. Mr Alan McGuirk was the head coach at LCGC for over 25 years, before his daughter Deanna took over this role. Both he and Deanna have coached hundreds of gymnasts and mentored many parents and ex-gymnasts to become coaches. Sadly, Mr. McGuirk passed away in December 2017, shortly before the club moved into its own premises, which was something he had been striving for, for many years. Our gym continues to be dedicated to his memory and his spirit and enthusiasm will always remain with the club.

LCGC is now headed by Patricia Clough, Chairperson and Adele Bogg, Vice Chairperson, who help with the day to day running of the club, along with five other directors.
Since 2017, Melissa Clough has headed up the coaching team. Melissa and the rest of the dedicated coaching team look forward to leading and developing the club in the future, whilst maintaining the happy friendly atmosphere we enjoy. Please see the 'Meet the Team' page to get to know the rest of our coaching team.
